Students will learn rug hooking with wool fabric strips on a linen backing to create a beautiful landscape design. Topics covered will include: hooking straight and curved lines; using hard and soft edges; and understanding atmospheric perspective. At the end of the class students will leave with a hooked 4 by 6 inch landscape ready to be framed, a new love for this traditional artform, and the skills to continue rug hooking at home.
First Objective - Master pulling up loops without pulling out previous loops.
Second Objective - Pull up loops that are consistent in height and spaced to both cover the backing and prevent stacking (loops so close together they overly warp your backing).
Third Objective - Hook curved and straight lines to create a landscape.
Fourth Objective - Understand the use of color and hard/soft lines to create atmospheric perspective.
Includes:
All supplies (linen backing with hand-drawn design; wool strips for hooking design; 10-inch Morgan no-slip hoop, and hook) are provided and covered by the materials fee.
