Description:

Design, carve, and finish your own glowing candle pots! In this hands-on workshop you’ll complete 2–3 votive luminaries while learning the essentials of pattern design, clay prep, and beautiful surface finishes.

What you will learn:

  • Designing a pattern: Sketching repeat motifs, mapping positive/negative space, and transferring designs to your pots.

  • Clay knowledge & consistency: Understanding clay stages (from soft to leather-hard), ideal timing for carving, and tips to prevent cracks.

  • Carving techniques: Piercing, incising, and sgraffito for crisp lines and luminous cutouts—plus wall-thickness and safety considerations.

  • Underglazing: Layering color, clean edges, and when to use underglaze vs. slip.

What’s included:

  • Clay, tools, underglazes, and glazes

  • Instructor demos and guided work time

  • 2–3 finished votive candle pots (fired and ready for pickup at a later date)

  • Tea lights for that first glow
