Description:
Express your personal style with functional, wearable art! This playful introductory workshop will
explore creating one-of-a-kind textiles with relief printmaking.
You’ll be guided through the process of creating custom linocut blocks, from drawing,
transferring your image, carving, and printing by hand. The printing process will be collaborative
with the opportunity to borrow each other’s stamps.
At the end of class, you’ll bring home your printed textiles plus your carved stamp(s) which can
be used again for future printing at home!
What’s Included:
All materials and access to tools
One blank fabric item to print on (your choice, day-of)
Bandana
Tote bag
Instructor demos and guided work time
What to Bring:
Wear clothes you’re comfortable with getting inky, or bring an apron
Optional: If you’d like to print on something other than a bandana or tote bag, feel free to bring your own fabric! It could be a clothing item you love, bag, fabric scraps, or a small section of yardage. The provided block will be 4x6in.
RECOMMEND: light fabric colors (ink will be black), smooth natural fibers/blends like cotton, linen, or even silk
AVOID: chunky/textured fabrics (knits/thick canvas), fuzzy, or stretchy
