Course Description:
Transform clay into a hand-sculpted animal in this workshop! Guided step-by-step, you’ll build a small custom sculpture (around 6 inches) of an animal of your choice. These sculptures will be built hollow, and we will review techniques and different methods for preparing sculpture for firing.
In this 3 hour workshop we will sketch in clay to map proportions, create different planes, add detail, texture, and final touches.
Note: Clay, tools, and firing services are included. Feel free to bring reference photos or sketches of the animal you’d like to sculpt! For this workshop, animals must be in a sitting or laying pose.
*The studio is open until 4:00pm and students are welcome to stay and continue working after class ends.
