Course Description:

Transform clay into a hand-sculpted animal in this immersive two-day workshop! Guided step-by-step, you’ll build a small custom sculpture (around 6–8 inches) of an animal of your choice.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Form & Proportions: Map out geometric planes and balance anatomical proportions for a solid foundation.

  • Sculpting & Detail: Express character and texture using essential handbuilding techniques and delicate detailing tools.

  • Preparation for Firing: Learn how to properly hollow, vent, and prepare solid ceramic sculptures so they survive the kiln safely.

  • Finishing Touches: Choose your final look! You can select glaze colors for us to apply after the bisque fire, or plan to return for a future studio session to hand-paint your piece with detailed underglazes.

Note: Clay, tools, and firing services are included. Feel free to bring reference photos or sketches of the animal you’d like to sculpt!

*The studio is open until 4:00pm and students are welcome to stay and continue working after class ends.
